Weird chords on 4 keys instead of chord trigger switch?

I'd like to preface this by saying I am a COMPLETE newb to synth workstations but an internet veteran, so I promise I did search the forums to try and locate a previous post/thread that covers my issue. :)

I've had my M50 since December '09 and have not had time to play it. I've turned it on and tinkered for half an hour, 3 or 4 times. (Yes, I realize this is sacrilege. I'm trying to change that now.)

Each of those times, as well as now, something strange is happening, and I can't figure out how to remedy it. These keys (on the "higher" end) - C#, D, D#, and E - instead of playing single notes, are playing some really weird chords or combination of sounds.

I found "restoring the factory settings" in the appendix of the user manual and have attempted to do just that.

I don't know if it worked, but I do know that those keys are still making the same funky sounds.

Any ideas? :(

Is it happening on all of your programs/combis or just 1?

Also, are the notes playing the same chords as the chord trigger buttons?

In advance, if the notes ARE playing the same chords as the chord trigger buttons, those notes have been programmed in global mode to trigger the chord buttons.

So go to global mode->page select->P2: Controllers->2nd Tab CC Assign->Under "Chord Trigger Switches," set all 4 SW's to OFF

Hopefully that will solve your problem. :?

It's happening on ALL programs/combis. The "chords" (they are a bit dissonant) played by the keys are not the same as those on the chord trigger buttons, though they are not extremely far off.

I checked the Chord Trigger Switches settings as you indicated, but they were already set to "off".

Yikes!

Hmmm....That's really strange. :?

I looked through the rest of global settings and didn't see anything else that looked related.

I've gotta say that I think it might be a hardware problem though because you restored to factory settings, and mine certainly didn't do that when it came from the factory.

I was afraid that might be the answer. Of course, I bought it @ GC as a demo/unboxed sans manuals, etc., can't find the receipt (purchased in 12/09) and probably have NO warranty.

And four keys that are duds.

The sexy yellow color is not making up for that right now. :-({|=

I'd probably suggest contacting Korg support. Maybe there's a relatively cheap fix that a service center can provide... [-o<

And I know, those bright colors are awesome, right? (I got the red one.)

Have you tried to reinstall the OS (to version 1.1.0)?. You lose nothing. It´s free, you only need a SD card and you can do it inyour home in 5 minutes. Tell us how is it going.
