I'm going to see of this works to remedy my y axis kaoss pad problem. If this dosnt fix that issue, atleast my zero will run cooler... Haha! I'm off to buy some more solder and heat shrink tubing. Wish me luck!
I'll post pics later

I finished up two days ago. I have had mixed success. The k pad works about 75% of the time now. Not sure if it's because I reseated all of the connections or the heat dissipation. I'll post the pics later.

Corpo.
Installing a fan may cause electrical/ground/noise problems. I assume you used one of the brushless type, that would reduce the impact. Also a fan needs air intakes/outakes to efectively work.

What were your findings while operating the Zero8 in cool mode outside the chasis?

Actually one of electronic gear common reasons of failure is the lack of proper power supply to the ICs, something that also gets increased when temperature raises or with timed/stressed capacitors. Therefore adding a fan might be lowering the temps (which helps to solve the problem) but at the same time it might be using up some of the pbbly much needed electric power (which contributes to create the problem), then likely showing mixed results as you seem to exhibit so far...

Its typical that new gear, as flashy and speced as Zero8 is, did function well at the engineering planning and bench tests, but then with some longer usage started to show its implementation forthcomings.

And here is when we DIY users may step in, to bring out the machine fullest potential available ;)
Well done Corpo, keep us updated

How is the touchpad / Zero08 doing with the fan now, Corpo?
You allready know if it caused any improvement?

If yes, can you maybe place some pics and instructions how to do this and what fan to use?
