Kaossilator (Pro): drum loop sounds strange

I am recording a 4-to-the-floor drum loop (just the kick) from the internal sound engine (don't know the program number now) and the first kick always sounds like it has a attack making it sound thinner than the others. Same on the original Kaossilator.
Is it me or the machine?

it is like phasing that occurs when you resample over the first beat...just make sure you remove our finger from the touchpad BEFORE beat 1 and that will go away.

What Bowmoney said. Make sure you take your finger off before the loop starts again. Can take a bit of practice. I find it best to take the finger off the X-Y pad but leave the record going (either holding the loop button or leaving "Rec" lit). I was trying to stop both at once but that caused clicks as i was cutting off the end of the first loop record.

thx for your answers, but this is not the problem.
i can also simply playback such a loop and the first beat sounds dull...

i assure you that is the problem...hold down the bank then touch the touch pad...only record two beats this time then life your finger, when the loop restarts, i bet it sounds better.

It might not be the problem... If the first beat that doesn't sound right doesn't sound phased, it's not the problem. What seems more likely to me is that the recording is being started ever-so-slightly after the first beat, hence the dull/empty sounding first beat and, like the OP said, lack of "attack".

Bowmoney's suggestion of holding the bank button first, before the touchpad should correct this, as the recording will only begin when the touchpad is activated.

QFT it's slightly delayed. I'd think of it like the time it takes for you to swing a drumstick before you hit the drum :]

It is not the loop that is delayed but the initiation of the recording. If the drum hit was subject to the delay, the loop would contain the full attack (or, at least, more of it) and would sound right, just out of time.
