Toggle an effect on and off as you play?

Is there a way to toggle "delay" (or another effect) on and off for an instrument (for example with the SW buttons)? My problem is that I use delay for a specific sound for the intro of a song, but I don't want it anymore the rest of the way.

A really simple way would be to switch programs or combis when you don't need the delay. More complex, I'm pretty sure that SW1 and SW2 can be set as DMod sources, so they should be able to turn effects on and off, though I've never attempted to do so.

You mean using the delay effect without saving it, and then just switch programs anyway because it won't return?

If you're editing the program, you can set up the effect settings such that it has zero Dry/Wet mix initially, and next to it you can set source as SW1 or SW2 and set your original mix level as the intensity.
That assumes the switch is set to SW1 Mod or SW2 Mod and not Octave or anything like that. You'll find the switch setting in the 'Controllers' edit page.

I meant making a second copy of your program that didn't have the delay in it. It'd be the easiest to do that, but it takes up an extra program slot so you might not want to choose that option.

X-Trade is bang on the money.

One alternative would be to use something like Joystick -Y to 'fade' the effect in/out (if you can spare a hand) or better still a variable pedal (which will free up both hands).

Switching between patches is not ideal. It would cut all sound while it loads the new patch into memory.
