Pedal issue?

Post by Fletch »

Hi guys,

I've very recently purchased an SV-1 and am loving it. However I am finding an issue using the foot pedal to sustain notes.

Usually on a piano or other stage pianos i've owned, if you hold down the foot pedal, all notes will sustain. But on my SV1 you need to hit the note and then the pedal a beat later for the note to sustain... is this normal?

Makes it pretty hard to play some parts.

I've tried it with the supplied Korg pedal and an M-Audio one.

Thanks

Hi Fletch,

I just tested your theory out on my SV1-73 and it doesn't have the problem you describe.

I'm wondering if it's a software issue and whether or not your SV1 is using the latest OS. Probably worth upgrading to the latest (v1.2) and checking again.

You can download the latest OS version for the SV1 from the link below:

Does the problem happen across all Pianos? What about the EP's?

No, that's not normal at all. That's the behavior of the middle pedal on really expensive grand pianos. Do you have it plugged into the Damper Pedal input, or into one of the alternate Pedal inputs? It should be in "Damper."

Thank you for posting this...

I am a recent owner of an SV1 and had the same problem (and just assumed that it was something "I just needed to live with")

Changing the input was an obvious solution... one that I easily missed! I plugged my pedal into the 'damper' input and it works like expected!

once again everybody - THANKS!

Hey Fletch;

1st, as suggested, make sure you have it plugged into the Damper input.
If that's not it, try calibrating the pedal.

I'm also new to the SV-1, and wasn't exactly happy with the length of the sustain, but after calibration It works perfectly.

SV-1 pedal

Same issue. Try plugging the pedal into damper while the SV1 is off. Then turn on, that worked for me.

Pedal: M-Audio SP-2

polarity

And the polarity switch (bottom of pedal) is like "-----o----o-----" not the open looking one...
