Help with my M50

Post by rvenneman »

Could someone lead me to a guide for using the M50. I find the manual confusing. I do a lot of church work and want to achieve the following.
I want to sequence a bass, voice and background and using this, play the lead live. I will use this for background music at weddings and funerals.
I would like to save the sequences to a SD card, upload to iTunes, and then call up the sequences on my iPod when needed.
Is this possible?
Thanks...please respond if you can help or email to:

first off yes you can save the sequences to an sd card but no you can not upload them to itunes and then to an ipod. please realize the m50 does not in any way save audio data. that is one of the reasons it is cheaper than other workstations. what it does do is save data that tells the workstation how and when to play notes so in this respect what you would want to do is get an SD card make sure it is SD not SDhc then you could enter sequencer mode get the settings, instruments, and effects you want and then hit the rec/write button and record the parts that will not be played live. after you are done recording playback of those parts can be executed with the start button and to save your work hit the media button then the save tab then the save drop down bar and finally the save seq option then anytime you want to call that song up just use the load tab.

also on a side note because the m50 is only recording data you can use the reso option on the main sequencer screen to correct any timing errors you may have while recording

Thanks so much for the reply and thanks for your help.
When I asked if I could save the files to recall, I didn't mean actually save the file as an mp3 music/sound file. I want to save the sequences to the ipod so they are easily recalled.
I presume I can save them to a SD card for recall? It is a lot easier to see from an ipod then to read file names on the M50 screen.
