One thing I'm dissapointed about.

I really loved the thermin like voice #3 on the regular kaos. I was hoping they would have included it with the pro. Seems to me if you have any kind of hand generated synth that a thermin sound would and should be a staple. Although a stylophone sound would have been cool for all us Bowie lovers.

...otherwise awesome!

You could always plug your original Kaossilator into the Pro and use the awesome looping feature to lay down what you need. I was a little surprised to see one or two of my favorite sounds missing, but a lot of the new sounds are DOPE. Plus it gives me a reason to hold on to the original (not that I'd personally ever get rid of it, but there are plenty of reasons to own both.)

#3 is my favourite too for soloing, as it's very playable because it does not retrigger when sliding to new notes (which allows some X-axis vibrato-like motions) and its volume is controlled by the Y-axis, allowing slow controlled-attacks and fade-outs. (I'm using that patch (through a little distortion and such) at the end of the music video you can find through the link in my "signature" below.)

I'm not in front of my KOscPro now - but there's the same sound (or a very similar one) in it with a different patch #. (It's still in the Leads.) Have a look/listen around and let us know if you find it.

I'm an advocate for using both Kaossilators. If their tempos are matched their loopers stay synced for reasonable lengths of time.

I can confirm that - just tried it out. Program L.028 "Tell Min" on the Pro is pretty much identical to program L.03 on the little one. I can also confirm that it's a blast to play both together, as that's what I'm doing currently instead of getting ready for work like I should be.

Missing programs

Two of my favorites (17 & 34) were also missing, and yeah, I just plug in the old Kaossilator to use them. I find using the Kaossilator with the pro fills up a lot of the inevitable gaps in functionality that come with the new, overall improved machine.

Hmm, never noticed this particular quality about the program until you mentioned it. Vibrato is usually something I look for on the Y.

Very cool.

There's also some portamento on the patch, which helps with the vibrato-like possibilities on the X-axis - though a regular LFO-vibrato comes in on the patch after a short delay anyways.
