Korg nanoKontrol editor crashes on Startup in Windows XP

Post by blyons »

Hi,

Due to some driver problems I was forced to deinstall and reinstall my Korg nanoKontrol Driver and editor. I have reinstalled the driver and then gone through the configure and install USB steps. The Korg nanoKontrol is visible in both of these steps and appears to be installing properly. The scene 1 light illumnates when the nanoKontrol is plugged in to any USB port.

However, the nanoKontrol does not show up in the list of Hardware devices under the Windows System Hardware Game and Sound Controllers.

When I try to lauch the Korg nanoKontrol editor, it crashes and produces a Windows XP Dump Report. I have tried deinstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail.

The editor will start properly if I leave the nanoKontrol unplugged from the USB. It gives timeouts which I would assume are expected status. I'm not sure how to correct this problem. My next step is to install the nanoKontrol driver and software on a different PC to see if I've got a corrupt Windows sound driver installation or possibly a bad nanoKontrol. I've used the device for about 6 months now and had to reinstall software before and the device has been rock solid. I'm suspicious of the base sound driver installation being corrupted even before I start installing the nano software. If that's the case, I'm not sure how to get to a stable state to start the Korg installation. I've tried System Restore, but Windows does not want to restore to prior states. I may be in a situation where I have to reinstall Windows to get the sound drivers back to normal.

Help!
