Good headphones for my Oasys
I need some good headphones for my Oasys and as a monitoring means. I'm not very fond of in-ear, though. Any sugestions?

I use Beyerdynamic DT770s for headphone referencing in the studio or tracking or if I just want to play an instrument solo from its own Headphone socket(except Vocal work where I used the DT100s),great sound and good for monitoring of mixes too,Bass responce is really good, that translates well when playing back those Mixes from monitors, where most other headphones I've used tend to over emphasise this and never translated well when I played back the mixes over the Monitors,The 770's sound I have come to trust if I need to mix at all on Headphones(which is very rarely)
The DT770's are damn comfortable, infact the most comfortable Headphones I have ever owned and have never suffered from fatigue of wearing them due to the soft pads, even on long wearing sessions.
Build Quality is first class too I've had this pair for well over 7 years now,and there still as comfortable as the day I bought them and still in one piece(apart from a little wearing of the White typeface logos)they are still intact and never needed to replace any parts neither have they ever broken at all and they have been dropped and abused a few times in that 7 years, and they are used on a daily basis,so although may seem a little expensive I've had my moneys worth out of them so would certainly buy them again,so the build Quality and sound quality for me are no comparison, headphone choice is a personal preference so you should really try out as many as you can before commiting to a certain brand.

Edit: Image removed, because it showed 2x harmless girls faces wearing headphones that gave themselves a nice little kiss.
They could be sisters just saying hello to another, or porn stars, but the problem is, it was offensive to some people, because they probably never saw a girl kiss in their lives before. The girls weren't naked either at all, or any sexual parts of their bodies were shown.....that is, if you find ears or eyes or noses sexual
And I also apologise if I've ruined this thread - was never the intention

Can't compete with the post just above but I use the Sennheiser HD600 and HD650 headphones and they are exceptional. They are incredibly neutral in sound and are highly regarded as being among the best studio reference headphones available.
I'm going to make you drool now by also telling you that I recently purchased a set of HD800 headphones and these are jaw-dropingly good. The difference between the HD650's and HD800's is like the difference between hearing mono and stereo for the first time. It's that significant. It is a totally unique audio experience. In fact, the HD800s are so good that in classical recordings I'm hearing detail within the orchestra that is literally inaudible with HD650s even. I'm serious. It must be down to the quality of the diaphragm movement or something, because they are actually revealing audio on CD's that I literally had not previously heard. So they present an altogether different audio experience. I purchased them for mastering - I would not use them on day-to-day composing / mixing because they are simply too expensive; but once I've used them there is literally no going back. It's like seeing a movie in Blu-Ray/HD and then watching it on VHS on a black-and-white TV after. Again this is, as far as I can present it, a genuine comparison.
Anyway, for me, they are now invaluable; but the HD650's and 600s are fabulous because they deliver rock-solid, uncoloured studio-reference audio so you can trust your ears and that's the critical element in this.
I can't comprehend anyone using cheap headphones - they are not that expensive an item (except for the HD800's which are a once-in-a-lifetime purchase (for me)), yet they are critical.
I have to say that I also own a set of HD280’s but I don’t use them any more. If memory serves, there’s a boost or peak at around 1000Hz which you need to be careful of when mixing. They are at best ‘OK’ as a closed back headphone (offering some isolation) but there are quite crude all round in their response. I would not use them for mixing.
So go and get yourself a set of HD600's or 650's and you will not be disappointed - in fact you will be over the moon and more importantly you'll be on terraferma in trusting your ears with what you're hearing coming from the OASYS.
Kevin.

Re: Good headphones for my Oasys
I do care. Dear Hedegaard, please don't take it as an offense because I like you and appreciate your contributions. But please remove your off topic post.Hedegaard wrote: Who cares about headphones?

ON: I came to share that I've just bought a Shure SRH840.
I have been using great Genelec 1030A near-field monitors for a decade (and for 3 years together with my OASYS). I know and love their sound. So, the headphone test was quite easy for me. I've carefully listened few KARMA-fied Combis on the Genelec monitors then with the headphones. I was immediately convinced. (Then I tested with other music sources.)
In fact I tried a Shure SRH750DJ, too, and while I found that also good, the SRH840 is better in many aspects: more comfortable, bass is not exaggerated, mids are clearer, the overall sound is more articulated, listening is less tiring.
Later I found a good review here.

There's a thread about it - I just recognized that started by youPr0 wrote:I'm already considering the in-ear solutions. If I get better sound definition, than I'll definitly learn to love in-ear phones.

My experience: in-ear is a good solution. It depends on what you want to use it for and how long. Practicing, songwriting, rehearsal, stage: OK. But I would use normal headphones for serious orchestration, mixing, and longer time (because it's more comfortable).
yes, hedegaard,
please remove the two girls from here,
and send them to my home address, pronto!

Of course I say this out of altruistic concern for Pr0:
HE can't receive any couple of naughty gals at HIS home address,
or this time his wife is really gonna sell his Oasys and throw him in the doghouse (first the 7-grand synth, then the 3-grand mixer, now a 1,2-tons pair of headphones... and he's always late for dinner
).

Please ozy, don't rush. Hedegaard hasn't even replied to my post. Let's wait for his kind answer.

@akos
yes, that post from heregard is trolling, but...
... come on, some cardiovascular calystenics is good after one hour sitting in front of a computer.
Imagine if heregard was a pervert, and posted two lipstick PIGS instead!
THAT would have been really annnoying.
(Probably on Roland Gaia forums they HAVE erotic pictures of lipstick pigs. Forget Roland: probably we have lipstick pigs pictures in the Korg MicroStation section of THIS forum
)
@ pr0
yep, your signature nails a lot of things on the head
