Why won't my R3 squeel bass like my iMS20 :-/

putting 9+/10 highpass resonance on my iMS20 and playing around with EG, I can get anything ranging from pig squeals to a 303 bassline. Problem is, there's no keyfollow/track (to my knowledge, haven't checked the manual) on the iMS20 and regardless it is easier for me to record my R3 atm. Anyways, I set the R3 to similar settings- pulse wave almost closed mixed with a full square an octave lower, low pass a tiny bit closed with an eg to squeel it open, and then high pass with ~100 resonance, and I can't get it to squeel! Does it have something to do with the MS20's analogueness and the emulators attempts to recreate it; am I not going to be able to get this vocally bass sound on my R3 without heavy effects waveshaping and DWGS?

Yeah, the iMS20 is based upon the MS20 whilst the R3 is based upon MMT which in my eyes is a very clean any 'scientific' synthesis engine. None of that impurity by default.

Make sure you are using a lot of the built in per-voice drive, post-filter, as well as possibly tube drive or amp speaker insert effects.
