Nano + GarageBand = does not control volume??!?

i've installed the "nanoKONTROL_GB_Logic_Plugin" and when i run GB, it will control the Volume and Pan of a track as long as i do NOT turn on "Track Volume" for that track.

As soon as i turn on "Track Volume", GB stops responding to the nano on that track. (the Pan knob also fails then).

i want to be able to go to a moment in time and adjust the volume. also, i want to press record and have the volume change over time while the song is playing.

the literature says you can get "that perfect fade", but i fail to see how this is possible if it does not record my volume changes over time while recording.

frankly this is useless to me without this function. Am i missing something? Did i just get a faulty unit? or is this how it was designed?

This is just a limitation of garrageband, it isn't designed to take input to control the levels from a MIDI mixing surface at all. That plugin was developed quite a while after the release of the nanoKontrol as a kind of workaround.

There is nothing wrong with your unit - it just sends MIDI messages which are interpreted by the computer on your PC to do whatever the software on your PC is programmed to do with them.

If you want a DAW where you can have complete control over your projects, and many other professional features, perhaps you should look at Logic Express or Cubase Studio/LE, or Ableton... There are also free and cheap options like Kristal Audio Engine, EnergyXT, Reaper, but I don't know much about them personally.
