ok guys, ive installed all the latest drivers for everything, and i have the R3 working in the editor....
What i can do:
Receive all data
Receive all programs
Receive 1 program
Transmit 1 Program
what i cant do:
Write all Data......................when i try it i get "write all data failed: receive error message"
Write all programs...............when i try it i get when i send i get "write all programs failed: receive error message"
i cannot work out why and its doing my head in! is there something i have to change on the R3 itself so it will recieve stuff?
also once i have transmitted it to the R3, how do i save it on there? cos ive found when i transmit one, after i select another one, then go back to the one i transmitted it to on the R3 its back to the original one...

Sounds like you need to disable 'write protect'.
It is on by default which means that you can't save changes to the device.
'transmit 1 program' can be automated by an option in the editor so that whenever you select a program it is 'transmitted' automatically, which is handy.
But what happens there is that it goes into the 'edit buffer' as I call it - the currently loaded program and all its parameters you can edit, but that isn't saved to internal memory. Consider selecting a program on the R3 does the same thing, you're not editing the patch in the stored data directly (when you navigate away without saving, changes are lost too), you're editing a copy in temporary memory. The 'write' operation saves that patch to the internal permanent memory.
You should be able to find mention of turning off 'write protect' somewhere quite obvious in the manual.

if you transmit a patch to your R3, it stays in a kind of edit buffer, the same as if you would change parameters on the R3 itself: they are only there until you change to another patch. To save the changes you have to perform a write operation on the R3 itself (see the user manual). Prior to that, to be able to write or save patches on the R3, you have to activate the write enable option which is also explained on the user manual.
