How to transfer/share app data (iElectribe)

Post by iasseo »

Hi - I own both ims-20 and iElectribe. I am very happy with both apps, and use them for professional music production. I'm anticipating to purchase a new iPad when it comes out, but I'm worried about about losing all of my presets (which are virtually impossible to redo, especially on iElectribe).

Is there currently a way to do this, and if not, are there plans to include session data in the transfer section in iTunes or through other means? other professional music apps have this option, and I think that it's a must for apps coming from Korg. Including the audio export was a great addition, but I think session data should be right up there as well.

Please keep those apps coming. really incredible stuff!

Are you certain session data isn't already saved via iTunes? I don't know the details of how / where data is saved.. but recently had to reload my iPad with a new OS build, bringing back everything from my iTunes backups. This was part of the iOS 4.3 Beta program.. I had to restore my iPad from scratch. So . . i am not certain what you are specifically hoping to not lose, but in my case - i didn't lose anything I had previously saved in the iElectribe app. Apologies if we are talking apples and bananas here... i have barely scratched the surface of using the iElectribe, but had several saved patterns that weren't lost.

that makes me feel better. At least I wouldn't lose the patterns. It would be nice however to be able to save those patterns as some kind of file format (maybe *.elc) so you could share/exchange patterns and/or sound setups.

thanks for your response.

Ah. I agree 100%. I've learned a ton with the iMS-20 by downloading SoundCloud examples and looking at them. The iElectribe export seems to only dump out WAV files. These are interesting, and you can share them - you just can't pull them apart and look at the make-up of the sounds, or patterns. Hopefully Korg will add the feature to the iElectribe. SoundCloud is one of the best things about the iMS-20.

there seems to be no way yet to save these files that make up sessions, only the 'audio recordings' appear in the iTunes iMS-20 app files area.

this needs to be an essential update for the iMS20 app as far as i'm concerned. it would be a great way to share more files, as they'd undoubtedly be much smaller than full on WAV files of these sessions.

ive already lost session, synth, pattern data files by updating my ipad, (stupidly - i hadnt had a backup at that time to rely on since my last backup was just before i got this app).

Please KORG if u read this - build in the ability to enable Session, Pattern, Drum, and Synth files to be saved , shared, and exported.

Sessions from the cloud can indeed be opened and remixed in ims20 , you can also record them or whatever u like.
