nanoPAD not working with Cubase 5

I've tried everything I can - I think I'm just missing one tiny thing that will make all of the difference.

First of all. Yes, the drivers are all installed correctly. I have not used up the 10 maximum midis in my computer's registry. I understand what MIDI is etc etc etc. My issue is that, even after searching and performing all of the advice given in multiple forums - I still cannot get Cubase 5 to produce any noise.

I have a bunch of plugins that I've used with other controllers before (ezdrummer, groove agent one, etc.) not one seem to work with the nano pad. Cubase recognizes that the nanoPAD is in fact connected to my computer and is a midi device. I have "MIDI thru active" checked. Under device setup - 'nanoPAD 1 PAD' is visible, active and checked with 'all midi inputs'.

When I press the x-y touch pad, I can see in the movable playback bar with tempo, time etc. that in the furthest audio input register there is something being recieved by the nanoPAD but, again, no sounds no response when touching the actual pads themselves.

I've tried multiple combinations of inputs and outputs with my VST instrument track or MIDI track selected - I'm just positive that I am missing ONE THING.

I've gone through the MIDI controller setups multiple times and I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can someone please help?

X-Trade - I've been following your advice on this forum for a while now, and not until tonight have I ever needed to create a username as the problems are solved by the advice I find here. Please help!
