Will SV-1 play at all if tube dies

Post by tubeman »

Need to know if any of the sounds will play if tube malfunctions. ie , will sounds that do not use tube still play if tube is out?

As far as I'm aware, the whole piano is valve powered so if that goes, I doubt you would even be able to switch it on, let alone play some of the sounds.

Actually only the overdrive is run through the tube. See the 5th post down on this thread.

Shut off the overdrive and the board still works.

I don't understand why everyone is so worried about a tube. It should last a long time, but yes it will need to be replaced now and then. It's a fact guitar players live with. So can we.

The issue is not that I need to replace the tube. Rather the issue is I am told that I can't replace the tube on my own. Guitar players can easily replace the tubes in their amps, we can't replace the tube in our SV-1. Therefore if the tube goes out on the gig and we couldn't replace it on the spot we are screwed. Fortunately it appears as if the gig can go on even if the tube dies.So far that is the predominant "opinion".I would be more comfortable if someone from Korg would step up and confirm it. Wouldn't you? 8)
