MIDI program change SV-1 => DSI Tetra
well, my last question was answered (partly) so quickly that i'm asking another...
i'm running the korg SV-1 with the DSI Tetra, and every time i change sound on the SV-1 the Tetra changes sound too... program change being sent through the MIDI...
also i want the expression pedal information to be sent through the MIDI (which is working - i just don't want to turn that off solving this problem, babies.... bath water...)
i'm scratching my head right now... i can't see how to either
a) in the Tetra turn off receiving Program Change,
or b) in the SV-1 turn off sending program change.
any thoughts ?

in the tetr4's global menu there is a "midi program chg" parameter. set that to "off", while leaving "midi parameters receive" to "CC"
But now really come on, man!
The m3 or oasys manual is 1200 pages long,
but the tetr4's is 13 pages, the global/settings menu is maybe 20 paramenters deep...
... RTFM for chrissake!!!

wrote to DSI & as i thought there isn't a way to stop the tetra receiving program change,
so... korgheads... & specifically SV-1 heads out there...
can one do detailed MIDI stuff like "do not send Program Change" in the SV-1... & ozy, with your:

perhaps check your facts before you patronise to this extent?ozy wrote:But now really come on, man!

You can use a MIDISolutions Event Processor to filter out or change MIDI messages that are sent from the Korg to your other MIDI device. Its a small box the size of a MIDI merger and its easy to program. They have a web site and they are also sold at www.ashbysolutions.com.
Thanks
Great looking little boxes without extra power adaptors.
I was hoping to find a solution without forking out for another bit of kit but that's seeming less & less likely.
The event programmer really stokes my inner MIDI nerd, the mind boggles @ what I might do with the thing beyond my immediate problem x

Listen, dude:longcat wrote:the event programmer tickles the nerd in me
1) you want a quick and efficient solution, I gave it to you.
A simple "thanks" would have been enough.
2) alternately:
you want a GAS-satisfying, nerd-tickling solutions, be my guest and spend 100 euros on a "event programmer" [I own one or two, and it's not a mystic experience, it's just a 10-steps router with limited capabilities]
I always forget that many people are here for buying gear and chatting about it, not for really getting things accomplished.
fool me
Ozy, the solution you gave me was indeed quick & elegant, but sadly it doesn't exist, there isn't that menu item in the Tetra, i guess maybe it is there in the prophet08, but not in the Tetra,
It's understandable to assume that what's in the prophet08 is in the Tetra (if that's what you did), it just doesn't happen to be the case here.

odd, because my Tetra & indeed my manual, have no mention of that Global Menu setting, maybe it was there in the original OS and in subsequent OS's they took it out,
like i said before, DSI told me there wasn't a way of doing it (filtering out program change information), so what with having checked it myself, & Dave Smith Instruments themselves telling me it can't happen, i'm letting it go & buying an event processor,
Ozy, we appear to be reading from different FM's
