FORMAL PETITION TO KORG - Expansion MOD-7 and LAC-1

This is a formal petition for KORG to offer MOD-7 and LAC-1 free of cost to existing registered Oasys users that don't currently have use authorization codes for them.

After KORG's announcement and commercialization of the new Kronos in 2011, a workstation that includes both MOD-7 and LAC-1 sound engines as part of the total purchase price, and this price being significantly lower than most Oasys users paid for their Oasys unit(s), the petitioners believe that the offering of MOD-7 and LAC-1 free of cost at this time would be a natural goodwill gesture from KORG to the Oasys community, a user base that fully supported KORG and the Oasys project during its lifetime.

This tread is intended to be a mere repository for interested Oasys registered users on www.korguser.net that would like to get authorization codes to use MOD-7 and LAC-1, should KORG provide them at no cost. This tread is an extension of the original discussion at:

It is much appreciated that only interested users respond, and follow these few simple etiquette guidelines:

b) No need to identify yourself replying with a message, although you're welcomed to if you'd like.
c) Non-Oasys Korg users are also welcomed to support this petition with your vote.

it is unfair that kronos has all these $650 worth extras and a couple of more sound engines pre-installed for free while expecting people who've already spent so much on oasys to still pay for them.

on a different note, it would be interesting to know how many oasys users have purchased them already and how many haven't. Having bought all three, that too in difficult times, I am sorry, I am a little hesitant to support the poll wholeheartedly. I feel giving these away for free would bring down the resale value of oasys further. especially if you are planning to sell oasys in order to afford a kronos sometime in the future. But may be I am in the minority. best of luck guys anyway. don't know if these polls and ranting make any difference to korg though.

I've voted.

As much as I'd like it to, it won't make any difference to Korg.

As far as Korg are concerned, us high spending guinea pigs can swivel

And definitely no more Korg for me until the decent thing is done.

Why should people get for free what others including myself had to pay for?

Sorry, I´m with Sharp here; therefore you should have added a third possibility:

"I´m a registered Oasys user that has paid for all options and want to have a refund if the options are unlocked for free"

Don´t get me wrong, I have nothing against giving it for free to those who haven´t paid but if there is no refund to people who have already paid Korg has a problem.

best regards

As someone that has also paid for all options, I would only support the third (refund) possibility.
Maybe sales of the options were small enough to make this a viable option for Korg?

Best regards,
Michael

A similar prerrogative must be included in this poll as well.

The guidelines are for an unfair “formal petition to KORG” that's only to your benifit.
You should not get for free what others had to pay for .... THE END...!!!!

As far as I am aware petitions only ever have the option to agree with the proposer. You either sign them to agree or don't sign if you don't agree.

As I said, none of this makes a blind bit of difference. Korg can keep their precious "open architecture" over-priced plug-ins. I would be far more impressed if Korg re-opened support for the Oasys to include some of the Kronos add-ons.........er, for free of course !

I am an owner and I purchased and used expanions. To say that now I want a refund does not quite seem fair. Products age and often are reduced in price as their value decreases. I feel I got the value for my purchases. Maybe a compromise might be huge discount for new buyers.

Unfair to whom? In what respect? How does this petition negatively affect anybody? Care explaining? Such logic sounds as if: "You shouldn't go to heaven, 'case I'm going to hell". I simply asked for respect. I'm blown away, after so many years here, by such bizarre intolerance.

We are at a point where whatever anybody paid for the Oasys, has very little relevance anymore. Oasys is a discontinued, end-of-life product. Done. Finito. Fin. There is a superior, direct replacement product launched to the market and targeted to a much broader user base, for a +50% cheaper cost. Anybody concerned with the resale value of your Oasys should accept once and for all that the major and massive depreciation factor impacting such value is already out there, is called Kronos. It is pointless to attempt to qualify the validity (call it fairness if you wish) of this petition when the above is kept clearly in perspective.

Oasys has been over three years discontinued now, is no longer a profit center for Korg. Kronos is. Fairness of asking for these be made available at no cost? It does not matter anymore (remember: KRONOS). But in the end, this is a petition to KORG, it'll be their prerrogative and decision, irregardless.
