Hey, i know this is an un-answerable question, but i'm trying to re-create this lead:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWUmw2ITaFA on the korg TR.
Could you give me any pointers? There's just so much and I don't know where to start
Thank you very much,
Paul

If you don't know what a SuperSaw is, then you don't know anything about synthesis. That's ok, everyone has to start learning synthesis to build sounds. Go to youtube and search for SuperSaw and Synth1. Synth1 is a free software synthesizer that can be downloaded and used with a free VST host software. Synth1 has a basic synth design that is very similar to most synth hardware, and the techiques described for it can usually be translated to the Triton or Radias/R3 synths.

thank you very much, you are absolutely right, I have no idea about synths but i'm much eager to learn. [ listen to plenty of industrial and i was always fascinated by the synths] . Used to be a guitar player but I switched to keys so I'm pretty much starting from scratch.
Thanks again for the pointers

Well i did learn about supersaw and used that to create something quite similar to what I wanted, however I ran into another problem [ every problem solved is a step forward into another problem right?]. Here's what I was able to get
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tgYQLjavb0
Now this sounds great, however it has WAY too many highs and it's a bit painful to listen too.
The problem is, from the MX EQ i've already set the highs to -18 which is as much as the program will allow so i don't know how to cut that frequency so it doesn't burst eardrums when I play this live.
Are there any other EQs anywhere else that I can use to further tweak the sound [ i find that 3 band one very rudimentary so i'm sure there's another way of going about this ].
Thanks very much for your support,
Paul

EQ isn't really very good for sound shaping. It's mostly for minor adjustments. Think of an EQ as a very limited bandpass filter.
It will be better to start with the Oscillator tones down a couple of octaves from those high notes. If you start with a Saw at note C6, then you wont get any notes below C6. But if you start at note C3, then you'll get notes at C3, C4, C5, C6 and other notes in between which are upper harmonics of the C3 root note. Then you can use the filters with cutoff points and resonance to emphasize any of the frequencies in this range, including using a lowpass filter to cut off however much of the high frequencies you want. So as a rule, it's better to start with lower oscillators to have a larger range of content to filter. Besides, you probably need some low end on that sound, while having a filter envelope to shift the cutoff point on a low pass filter from high to low with resonance to give it that evolving harmonic filter sweep at the higher notes.
