In spite of the lengthy number of Korg keyboards I've owned, I've never used the sampler! I have a few questions regarding sampling:

#1) I was ecstatic to discover that I could load my Fantom G's project USB stick into the Kronos and simply "load" all of my sample data (one sample at a time) into the Kronos (they are all wave files). Unfortunately, the looping and root key information was all lost. I have been able to work around the root key issue, but I have a question about looping. On the Fantom G, there is a line that moves from left to right to show you where the playback currently is while you're working on loop points...I use that information while creating loop points in a sample but I don't see any such feature on the Kronos. Does this exist?

#2) Saving stuff w/samples....this is something I don't quite understand yet. Let's say I have my own pcg (Bill.pcg) file that includes all of my combis, programs, samples and multisamples. I load this every time I use the Kronos. Sometimes I will be creating new samples or multisamples from existing samples (and then creating new programs from those multisamples). As I do this over time, should I be executing a save all and overwriting the same bill.pcg each time? I did this over the weekend and got a duplicate file error. After reloading, the multisample that took me a while to set up was blank. The program I created was still there, but it made no sound (obviously). Just wondering how other's do this...

Not an expert on sampling at all, but I have recorded a few tracks on the O of my wife playing cello. These tracks (in the sequencer) are saved as .wavs.

When I load up the song (in the sequencer), her tracks are silent, although I saved the song after the tracker were recorded. So I have to find, then reload her xx.wav.

I'm wondering if it's the same kind of thing with what you are trying to do?

i remember seeing a lot of information on sampling from one of the members (jahrome). i think the thread that may have some hints (not step by step unfortunately) is: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... c&start=45

Yup...this is disappointed aspect of many hardware samplers I have used outside of Roland. I must say, this is one area that Roland gets right.

I am an MPC-dude. No MPC model had this previously until JJ added this feature to his OS for the MPC 1000/2500.

It's 2011. Graphic waveform editing should at least have the basic tools to capitalize on this function.

As far as #2 is concerned, it has been a habit of mine to never write over anything. If I open a project and make changes to it, I rename/save it. So "Project Funk" will be saved as "Project Funk2." I started using this method after having problems overwriting files when using the latest Akai samplers.

Yep, as I pointed out in another post, you can overwrite .pcg files and .sng files and probably some of the Karma file types as well, but for some reason, you cannot save over sample files. If you want to save with the same name, you have to delete the old file first [just the sample files]. The alternative is to save with a different name, after which you could delete the old files if you wanted to....

Thanks....sounds like this is going to be painful for me.
