Cleaning

Post by CharlesFerraro »

This topic hasn't really been discussed directly. What is the best way to go about cleaning the RADIAS synth? Alcohol or water? Wet or dry cloth?

Manual says:
Care
If the exterior becomes dirty, wipe it with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners such as benzene or thinner, or cleaning compounds or flammable polishes.

Seems direct, but I've got some serious marks on my board that could really use a bit of moisture. Should I trust a cleaning agent, and if so which?

Have any of you ever managed to wear the ink on the face of the unit?

Any and all thoughts/opinions appreciated.

No petroleum, or alcohol based cleaners

Hi CharlesFerraro,

While I'm no expert on what works best, I'm am sort of an expert on what will mess your gear up. In 30 years, if it can get messed up, I've messed it up! "once anyway".

The manual is always correct "at least as far as the warranty is concerned".

Never use anything that has petroleum based solvents, or alcohols, acetones, thinners, etc...
No cleaners with abrasives "I know, heavy duh factor here".
No caustics like ammonia based windex or 409.
Be extremely careful with anything that has citrus oil "like goo-gone". While a little of it can be very good at removing duct tape residue, too much and it's taking the silk screened printing off too.

What I've had the greatest success with is a warm damp cloth with just the slightest amount dishwashing detergent like Dawn.

When in doubt, test an inconspicuous area first.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Best regards, Hanon
