Drum track- why doesn't the pattern select the kit?

I really think that selecting the pattern should select the correct kit by default.
It's much less useful when you have to choose a pattern and the kit, or else things start sounding wrong. Kits should be selected by default.

And if you're happy with the sound of the kit that you're hearing, and just want to hear other grooves, what then? You would "lose" the kit everytime.

At least you would hear the original pattern correctly. The problem is that many patterns just are not made for the current kit. You can always change the pattern later for experimentation.
Have you used drum mode? Try it, so many patterns sound incorrect and you have no idea what kit was originally used.
It's supposed to be like a drum machine - imagine using an SR18 where every time you selected a different pattern only one kit plays.
Think about it.

I agree with aron on this:
At least we need the information which kit was used.
A click box to switch to the original kit and diretcly hear how the pattern was supposed to sound would be the better solution.

Hi: I am going through the Combis, looking for arrangement ideas for one of my songs with Karma and the drum track on.
Sometimes I want to change the drum pattern and kit for the Drum Track.
Doing a search on this forum I found you need to go to the EQ/Vector/Control page. Then you press the Drum Track page, but I like the other aspects of the Combi (karma and combi keyboard sounds).
Ok...
But when I change the Pattern, it seems the same kit remains. This seems to be what this thread is about.
So my question is if you are in Combi mode and want to audition different drums tracks with the drum kit they were originally assigned to, how do you do it?
Thanks!

I'm actually missing something almost opposite. A way to lock the drums and drumtrack.
Imagine finding some nice groovy drums with a cool drum track. Now you want to flip thru programs/combies to 'start the creative process'. This ain't gonna happen

.
As soon as you do this the drumming is recalled for that recalled prog/combi.
I'd like to lock the drummer from changing when flipping through sounds.
