New Optional KRONOS sound libraries are coming from KORG

Got a letter from Korg today in the US Mail....as an Oasys owner. Among other things...its clearly states "We are preparing optional sound libraries for KRONOS which will be on sale very soon."
Korg is also offering Oasys owners the optional Oasys sound "engines" which are now stock in Kronos....for FREE! Wow! That is really outstanding of Korg, and in my view really shows the dedication and excellence that Korg is all about. It also shows how the Oasys/Kronos platform continues to be supported and developed...in Kronos.
I am very impressed, and looking forward to this new content!

That's really cool of Korg to do that for Oasys owners.
In this day and age it's more expected to neglect customer service and relationship and focus on making a buck. So kudos to them!
Super interested to see what Korg has up their sleeves with the Kronos soundpacks.

While I'm not an OASYS owner, or know any, this is great news for those who felt abandoned by KORG. And around here, became pretty vocal about it.
I'm still reading avidly all the comments from the Kronos - as well as Jupiter-80 owners - because these two synths look like what we were asking for from the manufacturers for years, and advanced the art of synthesis the way the first Kurzweils did about 20 years ago. And of course I want one of each badly...

New sound libraries? But where are the banks to put those sounds in?

so does this even the playing field as far as sound engines are concerned...?
And if it does, NOW which is the better board to invest in?
From what I'd read, the main thing that the KRONOS had on the O, was the additional engines...
So now what?!!!??!?!?!?!?!?

Oasys always had these engines (at least since they were first developed for Oasys during its product cycle). Theres nothing new here. However, on Oasys you had to buy each engine as a separate add-on, and it wasn't cheap. Oasys owners, who spend big money on that keyboard, were a little miffed when Kronos comes along for less than half the price, and all those engines, plus new ones never released for Oasys, were included in the Kronos price.
Bottom line.....Oasys is a historic masterpiece. Kronos can simply do more....for less.

RonF, when you say optional OASYS engines that are now stock in the Kronos, are you referring to the new piano and EP engines as well? Or are you referring to other engines that were further developed in the Kronos and will be updated in the OASYS? The wording the has me a little confused.
If it is going to have the same exact engines, I need to find an OASYS.

Even after this free update, OASYS will not have SGX-1 and EP-1. So Kronos still has an upper hand there.

Oasys 88 on eBay here in the UK for £2,000 (Buy it Now!) - It's VERY tempting, but I just don't have the room for it

Ok. Those are of critical importance to me, so I guess NOASYS for me.

Note the letter stated "OPTIONAL sound libraries will be available FOR SALE".
To make sure everyone understands, this means Kronos owners will need to spend extra money to buy them. They will not be given away for free.
Of course I expect there will be complaints from some Kronos owners "why aren't they free"?

Now THAT would be ridiculous IMO.

Here's hoping that these optional sound libraries are not just "sample based" sound libraries (even though that would be cool too)...but actual new Korg programmed patches for AL-1, Mod-7, STR1, MS20/Poly6, or HD1. That would be wonderful, IMO

I won't consider purchasing any external sound libraries until after the editor software is released.
