I've been working on some sounds- but this sound has been annoying me, I feel i'm so close to replicating it, but it just never clicks, however I've tried messing with the pitch bend wheel and its sounded a little more accurate- but my lfos are failing me.
The sound sounds pretty nice, but isn't quite right.
Here is the video of what I'm trying to recreate(sound starts at :58):

and here is my patch:

I think I screwed it up by adding two sine sub oscs- but I know that at least something i did with the saws is correct.
feel free to edit the patch and send a response or suggestion

Any help? or is this sound too analog to replicate perfectly?

Pendulum uses vst's for their synths.

does that really matter? no

So tell me how something digital is going to sound "too analog" to recreate??

while in general that would make no sense, in this case its because they are using virtual analog software synths. And simulating a vst on a hardware synth isn't that hard, its just a matter of how many oscilators and effects you have, and the r3 has alot of effects and just barely enough oscilators.

I think your rambling on about something you know little about

Maybe I do know; Software synths suck so the R3 wins by default. <_< I can make anything with the R3 that any VST can do. Even if that VST is Massive.

You are trying to recreate a software synth sound that sucks?? Wow. Good luck with that. You are one big conundrum. Do you think it will sound better coming from the R3 than the original VST??

To be fair, some software synths go out of their way to behave and sound 'analog'.
The R3/Radias/etc MMT does not. It is quite scientific and pure. You can also go some way to making the sounds in the R3 more analog, but it doesn't do that out of the box.

Hardware VA is simply a software program dumped into shell. There's no magical hamsters inside running on wheels making the program sound any better than how it was designed on computer. You're essentially paying for a software synth with a really good interface.

I want to see you make a Skrillex bass with the R3, then we'll talk. :3

Haha... I'll always be a hardware head and hate on software, so sorry for the prior misunderstanding, you can achieve great things with software synths, but hardware synths can do it better-
and as for that skrillex bass... I actually believe i could do that. only problem is I may have to sample the sound multiple times to achieve an accurate replica.
Though the WobwobwobGrowl is still possible(although difficult) with the two timbres the R3 has to offer. So I'll post up a patch once I get it right. and If I can't, I'll just sample it a few times and post a wav. Thanks for the challenge buddy.
Now I have a challenge for you- Make a More accurate Deadmau5 pluck than me. And make the guitar/bass sound from Sonic 3's lava reef zone on genesis

MMT synthesis is cool, but has its weaknesses. Your enthusiasm is a nice thing, but you can't really claim that the R3 has no limitations.
It is not as good for plucked sounds as some more quality VSTs/Synths such as the Nord Lead, for example. Its envelopes are not fast enough and you cant achieve enough punch in the transient.
About hating on software - I also prefer hardware for being more immediate and easier to tweak, but what you get in functionality you often pay in things like polyphony, number of oscillators, less advanced mod matrix etc. So you can't really say R3 outshines Massive (or any other advance VST).

true but with a good programmer(and even without one) the R3 has better sounds and sound quality than many VSTs. however, massive is quite a beast of software. so its hard to compare. Btw did you try out my presets in the link i posted earlier?
