microx/x50 - mistake?

Post by damiana »

So I have posed a few times here just trying to get my feet a little wet and helping everyone understand that I am a total newb.

Anyway - I have been going through combinations of dual synth selections as by preference I would simply prefer to have two pieces of hardware...

So I bought an x50 as my main "performance board", you know - pianos, french horn, pads, etc...

So I wanted to by a smaller board as an "effects" board mainly... I went through the Ultranova, the R3, searched for a KStation, and ended up with a MicroX.

Now I'm left feeling kind of stupid because as far as I know I have the same hardware other than one having more octaves tha the other.

Between the x50 and the microx, I'm pretty sure I want to keep the micro - I am not a "real" pianist and dont think I will ever use the real estate of having the additional keys even on my "performance"board.

The question now is - what would be good to fill the role of "effects board" for me? I am playing triprock/ambient/groove/chill/pop type stuff....

My first thought is to take the x50 back and trade it for the R3 as that board seeemed to have some pretty incredible sounds on it, and a nice software editor too....

Can someone steer me towards or away from what I'm going here?

Thanks
