so... I just bought one, again, on eBay!

Man, I loved this synth. It may be a bit superfluous to my requirements but it'll be nice to have one around again :D

:soundsgood

not in my possession just yet!

I was actually really stuck between the microKorg, a microX, or a monotribe. Kind of an impulse buy, but nostalgia got the better of me.

Well in most cases the MS2000 is actually cheaper than the MK because of the MK's reputation - almost a 'cult status'. But I got a good deal on the MK here.

I was looking at MS2000s originally. Mostly it is only the Rack version being sold and I'd rather have the keyboard.

the MS2000 is really what I wanted though, yes. But I'm used to the microKorg as it was my 1st synth.

As was mine, the MK really is a nice first charmer!

There are a few MS2000 auctions on ebay with the keyboard, not just the rack, and also a few MS2000B's up too, in case you want some vocoder action.

I laid out 300$ for one totally because of the vocoder function. But alas, midi doesn't pick up my voice on my PIANO ROLL COMPOSER music-editor. I only get playback on the carrier instrument. What music-editing program will transfer BOTH the voice and the carrier? I hope I haven't wasted my money. The keys are so tiny, I'm constantly making mistakes and having to start over. It's taking me forever to record one song, and that's talking instrumentals ONLY.

MIDI is simply a technology that transmits what notes and controllers you play - it is the electronic equlivelent of sheet music, purely information about your performance, not the resulting sounds from it. It can be used to play sounds on your computer (VSTi, soundfont, other software synths), or to record your performance to add notes, correct mistakes, before sending back to an external synth to record as audio.

if you want to get the sounds out of your keyboard into your computer you need an interface (sound card, or external interface box via USB or Firewire) for recording and playing back high quality audio, and software to record into.

With most computers you can get reasonable results out of the standard built in inputs, but more professional standalone equipment will invariably give you better results and performance.

Many of us use professional Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software such as cubase, logic, protools, live, reaper, energyXT. Any of these will record either MIDI or audio to different tracks.

basically, if you want the sound of your microKorg to be in your songs, you've got to record it, just like you would a guitar or vocal or any other instrument. not just lay the notes down or arrange the performance, but actually record the sound of the instrument being played.

Can any of those be downloaded from the internet?

Have you tried google?

I believe Reaper is a very popular free option. EnergyXT I think is available relatively cheaply.
