HI everyone. Picked up the K73 today. Returned the Jp-80 within a day and got this.

Anyway, pulled it out of the box, and 2 black keys on the last octave and 2 white keys are slightly lifted about 0.1mm above the other keys and are stuck. So when you press them down, it seems to be locked somewhere and does not go down at all.

Before I take it back just thought I'd ask if anyone had this issue and a fix for it. I'm sure it would take some jiggling or there maybe a trick. It looks as if it is jammed somehow. Its not broken, it looks as if its out of alignment i think.

I really like this board, more than I thought.

0,1 mm, is that visible? However, the stuck keys seems a serious problem (tough hopefully can be fixed easily).

np, 0,1 cm is indeed visible (and probably also noticeable when playing). Sorry for not having an answer. You could write a mail (too) to Korg support.

Take it back and exchange it. The only fix is to open it up and dislodge what's ever locking those keys up. It could be a matter of the keybed shifting during shipping but opening it up could void the warranty. It's brand spankin' new so you shouldn't have to worry about it.

When you return it, make sure you check the new one before you bring it home. There's always the risk that a palate got bumped or dropped and more than one was potentially affected.

Thanks mchale. Its the last ones in the country atm unfortunately. Next batch is Nov. I called them and they said they could probably fix it within 5 days if its not broken.

It stinks when they are in limited supply, but long term, you'll be glad you took it back...

The reason is probably simple:
I guess the keybed has been screwed too narrow to the front plate (at the downside of the keys). Seems that this happened with more than two or three units.

The safest way is to return the unit. And it may be important that Korg gets the message, that their quality control has not been working too well with way too many units, after all I see and hear at different places.

It might also be possible to unsrew the screws just enough to put keybed and front plate apart a bit. But as I said, returning is safer, and you could insist that fixing the problem is done fast at your next Korg service center, and that you receive the exact same unit again within days, if nothing but fixing is required.

This happened to my 73 that I recieved this week with the F and A key in the lowest octave. I called my dealer at DV who got in touch with Korg. KorgUK were very swift and pro-active, had UPS pick it up the next day, have fixed it and are shipping it back out to me today, will be back with me on Monday. That's a 3 working day turnaround.

Good to hear about the quick response. Remember, Dan-at_Korg always suggests contacting Korg support in your country. Korg wants you to be happy and productive with your instrument. They will do what they can to make it right.

I'm pretty sure it's not broken. If they are in short supply, than I would DEFINITELY contact the local Korg Service Center. It's a couple minute fix. Nothing is broken on the inside. I'd only return it if I could exchange it for a new one right then and there.

thanks everyone, just another quick question. In global mode it says my k is 2gb ram. Is this standard now? On the specs it says it ships with 1gb. But it says free 148.

This may help for stuck white keys, but with the black keys, I'd say you need to get it fixed.

The KRONOS comes with 2 GB of RAM pre‐installed. Approximately 1 GB of this RAM is used by the operating system and ROM sample data. The remainder is shared between EXs samples and RAM samples. So, yes, this is normal and matches the specs.

I'm sorry that your keyboard arrived with a problem. If your Korg distributor suggested getting it fixed by a Korg service center, that seems like a reasonable course of action to me.
