CX-3 - Perfect Strangers Organ Sound

I was a little bit disapointed to the amount of CX-3 programs inside Kronos. They are just a few.

Did anyone was able to program a decent Perfect Strangers (studio version) organ from Deep Purple?

I cant get even close to it. First of all, is it possíble??

Thanks

easily. it's just drawbar settings (start with 888000003) and amp simulation and overdrive.

Post a recording of it when you get it tightened up bsbsantos.

I would like to hear what you have dialed in and listen to the intro of the song. I know it well.

Interesting one, I haven't tried recreating specific organ sounds yet. I must admit I had some trouble in the beginning creating a decent distorted organ, but I'm getting the hang of it and I think it's quite possible to create something Deep Purple like. I just might give it a shot myself, if it works out I'll upload a sample :)

As you can see in the video, Jon Lord's sound is pretty easy to get. I've had it nailed on my other synths, just haven't done it yet on the Kronos.

I have a small Marshall combo standing in storage downstairs... I wonder... Of course, the neighbours (in my flat building) would kill me...

Hi @all,

I have a Kronos 61 too and one reason why I love the machine is THE organ!
With all the possibilities of designing sounds you can turn the CX-3 into a crunchy overdriven Hammond B3 beast witch blows away your friendly guitarist in the neighbourhood:D

Hope you like it.

dg-keys,

WOW!!! It´s pretty good. It’s exactly what I am trying to achieve.

Just knowing it is possible, give me some relief.

Would you share this program with others?

I would really appreciate that.

Thanks for you reply.

that kicks ass!

Most of my organ tweaks haven't delved much into the amp sim guts - I've mainly been playing with the realtime knobs and saved variations of the "Nice" organ (the really percussive Keith Emerson one - I forget exactly what it's called).

I have been using the XV-88 patch called Purple Spin for this song and other Deep Purple stuff. I have been thinking of doing a multi-sample of this Roland patch into Kronos. I really like the softer and jazzier organ patches on Kronos but that XV-88 has some SERIOUS stones! It is NASSSTY and I think Jon Lord himself would love it. And the funny thing is, the venerable XV-88 relies on just PCM samples as oppsed to Kronos CX-3 and Kurzweil's KB-3. (BTW, after much tweaking, the PC3 organ for Purple just sounds TOO harsh.)

If I can make this a nice multi-sample I will post it in the download section. I am guessing that since the XV-88 - and the rack version XV-3080 are no longer in production I can do this(?))

Vlad

You guys might want to check out ksounds stuff. I really like it. You be the judge whether he nails the hard rock sound. He does bypass the internal distortion on the CX-3 and uses guitar amps and other Kronos distortion IFXs. He also often uses two Leslie sims at the same time, which is an interesting approach and I think quite effective. I also like that some of the presets are mono. If you have a good Leslie simulation, it should sound good in mono.

The audio demos sound just like the programs so there shouldn't be any surprises.
