Joystick / ribbon Controller Issues on Triton Pro

Post by ConnorP »

Hi Guys,

Recently, I have noticed a slight random detuning effect whilst using certain patches. For example, I sometimes use the Combi Patch CA010 *Pad Tropolis*. I would often tweak the release time using the assignable knob and also use the ribbon controller to affect resonance etc.

Lately I have noticed very strange detuning effects, which can only be rectified by changing patches and then reloading the original patch (on the fly).

The problem worsened when for no reason a Piano sound suddenly went honky tonk by way of randomly detuning itself during a live show.

I thought it was strange so I reinstalled all of my PCG's later that evening. Next gig, same problem. So I started reading up on it and figured that it must be a hardware issue with the Joystick.

I am a techie, so i had no problem (or fear) opening the Triton up to take a look. The cable connectors to the joystick were all seated correctly and did not appear damaged in any way, but I did notice that the spring governing the x-axis (pitch) did not seem to return the unit to centre position exactly each time - there is the culprit and www.partsisparts.net is where I can resolve the issue.

So I simply disconnected the joystick wiring harness from the board to ensure no detuning issues would occur during my next gig. I do intend to replace the spring in the unit asap.

The problem does not end there however. The ribbon controller seems to be behaving strangely too. Simply touch it using any patch and very strange detuning happens also - not like anything I have ever witnessed before. Has anybody else got any experience of these issues and managed to successfully resolve them....Please let me know

Thank you
