UPS

After having a power outage on stage (thanks to a "lame" FOH tech), I realized that 2.5 minutes plus to re-boot the Kronos is a long time when people are staring at you. So I have decided to add a UPS to my setup, just for the Kronos. Other than current and power ratings, what other specs should I look for in a UPS. I noticed that some had AVR- Automatic Voltage Regulation and that seems a godsend in areas with power fluctuations. I searched online and vey few specs talk about how long the battery supply will last at power failure. This would be one of the more important considerations for me. I am not worrying about shutting down the Kronos, unless necessary. I am more concerned with keeping it booted until power is restored. Any thoughts?

Any standard ups will be fine, however if you want voltage regulation, then the ups will cost more. Basically it taps off the battery and provides a very stable and clean voltage. Even a cheap ups will run the Kronos for a long time (20 mins?)

A UPS is IMHO a necessary item for a Kronos or an Oasys. I would not feel comfortable with a power loss, spike, or surge with boards that utilize this type of sophisticated electronics. For most other boards I've used I would have an isolation transformer of a high quality surge protecting strip.

Be aware that there is a minimum load as well as a maximum load when choosing your UPS. Too small a load and it may not switch in correctly when there is a voltage drop. Almost any of the bottom-of-the-scale UPS units will have more than enough battery time for the Kronos. I've been using a little Trust 650VA UPS successfully for years now running a Korg M3-88 and Roland Fantom X7 off of it.

ronnfigg, for synthesizers the best ups is "on-line ups"(Double-conversion / online). Only on-line ups give the 100% safety for your equipment. Google it. Eaton or liebert is a good choice. Like this

Yes, online I believe means that it runs off battery all the time. So battery->inverter to Kronos.
Good choice if you can afford it.

I'm with robbinhood on this one: UPS w/ voltage regulation:

Why must everything weigh so much! Where is the 1lb rack mount UPS!?!? lol.
Thanks for the link, think I'm going to go with that one as a necessary evil for my live gigs.

Pink- I think it has something to do with the size of the battery. If there was 1 that could fit in a 1 u rack space it would probably cost 1,000,000 dollars. NASA stuff!

Now you are talking!
Anyone see any reason not to get this? I'm horrible with electircal-speak.
Another one:

BUT:
Weight: 16.8 lbs
My goal was not to make my rack unit 3x heavier than it already is!
