Beginner question as I start to explore the sampling features of the Kronos...

I know how to create my own multisamples, lay out different samples for various pitches across the keyboard, and then stack several of these multisamples within a program to switch between them based on velocity.

But for complex velocity layered sounds, this leaves me with a large number of related multisamples, which gets to be a pain to manage, and also a pain to set up if I want to reuse that same velocity switched sound in more than one program.

On previous systems, I was able to set up multiple velocity layers within a single multisample, in the same way as configuring multiple pitch regions.

Is something like this possible on Kronos, or just not how it handles velocity switching?

On the KRONOS and other Korg instruments, Multisamples handle key ranges, and Programs handle velocity switching. The "Copy Osc" command may be helpful for reusing complex velocity switch/layer/crossfade setups.

It is not possible to set up multiple velocity switching inside a single multisample on Korg workstations.
Personally, I prefer it exactly in that way. It leaves me the freedom to set the velocity points exactly as I want them, depending on how I play. In fact, I see only disadvantages in having velocity switch points inside a multisample. What if you dislike the velocity points inside a multisample? How do you manage it? In Korgs way, you can always go into edit mode and set the velocity switch points in the way you like. But if it's part of the multisample, it may not react in the way as you want it to. In that case you have to edit the multisample over and over again.
I neither see a problem with handling it. I just name the multisample properly. If I have a piano_pp.kmp, then I know that there is also a piano multisample with another velocity.
