KRONOS Bugs and Problems Formating USB Sticks

I dont know why and what is wrong but Kronos has problems when Formating
a USB Stick...i tried all combinations, F16 Quick and Full, F32 Quick and Full,
Formated the USB Stick on the Computer...none works, if Formated on PC
the Kronos wont recognize it, if Formated on Kronos the PC dont recognize it.
How do i know its KRONOS problem? I Formated it on my M3, F32 Quick and
now it works on Kronos, M3 and PC fine...anyone can confirm? Dan, any word?
Also, when Copying from Internal HD to USB Stick doesnt work properly,
stops in the middle with a message Unable to Save File...also tried all combinations.
I am talking about Multiple Sellection of files and also if the file is over 150-160MB
i guess...you have to Load the file then Save to USB Stick, not Copy and Paste
from Internal, it wont work.

I formatted my geek stick on the Kronos, and my PC couldn't recognize it, so I couldn't load samples onto it. When I formatted it on the PC (Windows XP), the Kronos DID recognize it.... I've only tried one flash drive, so I'm not sure about others, but it seems there may be an issue with the Kronos and some flash drives as far as formatting goes.

It's not really an issue. Kronos probably formats the stick as FAT iso a computer which normally uses FAT32. It is a bit strange your computer cannot read FAT, but I would look for problems at your PC first.

I had the same problem. I completely wiped it and formatted it on my Mac, and that seemed to do the trick. It should 'just work'. Flash drives aren't rocket science.

No, i still stand on what i said, it is Kronos, not my PC, as i said, if Formated
on one the other wont recognize it. I have done this and thousands of test
with the Actual Engineers in Japan, thru Jerry and 2 other members of this
forum, 2 years ago when there was the same problem with M3. And also no,
this USB Stick has no U3 Partitions, i already know all details i am supposed
to know about this, i feel its Kronos, same as it was with M3 at the begining
then they corrected it. I hope someone will take a note on this.
As i said, M3 does it but not Kronos...which means it is not the PC.
And as Pilot said...its a USB Stick...not quantum mechanics.

Do you know for sure which format type is used, FAT (16) or FAT 32?

Kronos and M3 can use both, thats what i was told by the engineer but they
recomend using 32. I did both ways and all the Combinations...

What size is the stick? My 16 gig one is iffy sometimes, especially on older or slower/less advanced systems. Most 4 gig ones seem to be recognized easily by all computers.

Its an 8GB SanDisk...the simple ones with no U3 partitions, i have 1 of 1GB
and one of 8GB, same thing on both...

I think memory sticks (USB Thumb Drives) are Rocket Science.
Many of them have little applications on them, to help them work more seamlessly on a windows machine.
This is a constant nagging problem I've read about for all the workstations, especially the Roland Fantom G.
Funny thing though, I have two dedicated sticks for each keyboard and have had no issues.
I always format the stick in the keyboard prior to the first use.
Additionally I use little USB pigtails to plug them in easier (6"), I secure the stick to the keyboard with little velcro dots.
Good luck (the last one I bought was a no-name brand with a metal housing from Best Buy, they are cheap.

I've had zero problems with half a dozen USB sticks in use with the Kronos since I have it. Most of them are formatted on the Kronos.

I have a Sandisk for my O. Has anyone been able to successfully use Sandisk on their Kronos(also 4 gig or 8 gig)?

Yes, I have been using a 4G stick with my Oasys and now have reformatted with Kronos and it seems to be working fine.
There is a known problem though. When placing into the computer, additional system files are added. (About 4 or 5) which can be deleted. Other than that all is okay.
(This is not a Kronos issue. After deleting the files and placing back into my mac, they show up again. You have to keep deleting them every time you go back to your PC)

Lou, the problem with Kronos exists, i have tested 4-5 USB Sticks already.
On NONE of them your problem happened, you might have an issue with
the stick it self, to me its a sign of U3 partition i think you have.
