Constant tempo in set list mode

I'm trying to set up my Kronos to sync effects like delays and tremolos with the song tempo for live performance.
I've created a separate Set List for each of my band's songs. My ideal workflow would be to:
- load the relevant set list for whatever song we're playing;
- tap in whatever tempo the drummer starts at;
- use a foot switch to step through the patches in the song;
- not have to adjust the tempo setting after each patch change.
The problem, of course, is that each combi/program has its own tempo setting. Consequently the tempo meter changes each time I step to a new patch.
I've looked for global or set list parameters I can tweak to do this but I've found anything yet. Does anyone have any suggestions?
[ Edit: I've thought about using an external MIDI source. Not ideal as it's extra gear to take on stage, but I would consider it if there was a small gizmo available at the right price. ]
