I'm in the market for an expression pedal, but wondered which one, also that preferably works out of the box, that doesn't cost the earth. Any suggestions?

In my book nothing beats the Yamaha FC-7.

It has much more travel than a lot of the other pedals, so it feels more expressive. And it is built very well (made predominantly from metal with a rubber coating).
Works with Kronos out of the box.

Behringer make the lowest cost one I think.

Just get this pedal for Korgs. These have lasted me literally more than a decade and never failed regardless of how much I use them (which is a lot since virtually every lead I play is w/ a wah). In fact, the only thing that made me buy new ones is because someone stole them! Some other pedals I've had (when I used Kurz for my main sounds) needed to be fixed and/or modified repeatedly.

the Yamaha FC7 is built like a tank and works perfectly out of the box. I am using mine from my old Motif.

I've had a couple others (like the m-audio ones) and they're pretty much junk.

I also just picked up a mint condition 2nd hand Yamaha FC7 on Ebay for $20 - that's actually cheaper than what the crappy M-Audio ones were new! Now I have an extra one I can use for other synths.

+1. I use it with my Oasys. Great pedal for less than 50 bucks.

If you want more pedals and switches, take a look at the Behringer FCB1010 ... the pedals are not built like a tank but I have done about 20 gigs with it without any problem. Programming is not super simple but easier than a Kronos ... and it's very cheap for 10 switches + 2 pedals.

Great advice on the Yamaha FC-7. Just to digress for a sec, are you talking about using the internal keyboard wah effects with the pedal or do you use a separate wah pedal in conjunction?

Think we are up to +5 at this point on this one?

I used an FC-7 before it was stolen (along with my other pedals)...haven't replaced it yet but when I do, it will be with another FC7.

I mean an on-board wah effect modulated by the FC-7. I've preferred this setup starting with the Trinity some years ago. Before that, it was a DW-8000 through a Morley (then a Zoom 1010 using the FC-7), which was okay, but I generally prefer to do things "in the box."

Anyone has experience to share for the Korg XVP-10 guys

Like most things in life ... The more you spend generally the better things are ... I have an XVP-10 ... Built like a tank a real roadworthy pedal but costs an arm and a leg compared to the others out there

I've only briefly tried the XVP10, and that was long ago, but I remember still preferring the Yamaha FC7. I really think it's the one to beat, in the expression pedal category.

FC-7; use one for my Yamaha, Kronos, and XK-1. They work like they are supposed to and have never had one fail.

I always had the FC7 come apart and break on me. Once they come out, it's hard to put them back together correctly and it never seems to be the same.
