So, my Kronos 73 bit the dust today. It came to it's end much to early.

I was on my way to a gig and had an accident. The trunk got pushed in on the passenger side and damaged the treble end of the keyboard. At least insurance should cover it.

Hopefully, I can still power it up and get my data off it to transfer to it's replacement.

The good news is no one was hurt. Cars and keyboards are replaceable.

We have much to be thankful for.

EDIT: Here are some pics of the damage. It didn't look quite as bad as I first thought. I don't know guys, repairable?

Korg Really skimped on build quality. It should be able to with stand a car accident and instead protect your car and ruin the other persons car.

That's what I'm thinking - The chassis shell should have been Magnesium and the frame should have been welded cast iron I-Beams. I mean, come on Korg, I used to use my Motif to jack up my car when I had to rotate my tires. I should at least be able to do that.

Seriously. My JP80 is made of industrial grade steel and has been used for ramming downb doors on the occasion.

A cheaper solution would be to buy a magnesium flightcase.
I am sure there must be flight cases strong enough to survive a (heavy) car accident.

However, sorry for your Kronos ... I hope you get a new one soon.

I personally am grateful you are ok. Keyboard build quality was not the point of your topic, so again, I am glad that you are able to put things in perspective and realize that better days are ahead. Good luck with everything.

if I had to gig/travel with my Kronos, I would buy 2 Kronos 88's, one for home , 1 for travel.

I wouldn't mind having a second Kronos to travel with, but that's not in the budget at the moment. I'd love to have an 88 for home and a 73 for the road.

I'm anxious to hear what the insurance adjuster has to say tomorrow...

so does it power on? is the rest of the board playable? Can you offload your stuff?

Haven't tried it yet. I want to talk to the adjuster before I plug it in.
