Hello everyone,

First of all my apologies for my english ! So i need help about the korg R3. Maybe someone could help me for my question :
I created a vocoder, but to use this one you have to press one key then sing in the microphone. So my question is, how can use the vocoder without press a note ? Let "open" the vocoder and the microphone ? Is that possible ? Should i use a sustain pedal or something else ?

Vocoders will take the harmonic structure of the voice and apply it to a synthesized note or pitch.

So you do need a note to play, and just holding one note or chord can sound quite static. Ideally vocoders are played with interesting melodies or chord progressions.

What you can not do is control the pitch with your voice.

My best suggestion would be to use the arpeggiator on 'trigger' mode, latched, with 100% gate. Adjust attack and release (mainly release) so that it plays with a minimal amount of clicking.
Then you can just play a note or chord in and it will continue to play whilst you speak/sing into the mic.

FYI, the Radias has a feature where you can trigger a note or chord from audio input (it is a part of the envelope follower), but the R3 lacks this feature.

What would work best is to use midi-in data to trigger the notes. The only problem it would create is that you would have to time your singing almost perfectly with the notes if you are using multiple. If not a simple/single midi-in note would suffice.
