I'm trying to trigger the sequencer/arpeggiator on my SH-101 with my ESX, like I do with my Boss DR110 using the 'trig out', but I can't get it to work. I've sampled the accent from the DR110 and tried sending it to the clock input on my 101 from outputs 3/4, but it won't push the sequencer forward.
Anyone managed to trigger their SH101 or Juno from an ESX, or got any ideas on how to get it working?
Triggering SH-101 sequencer with ESX

I made this thread over a year ago and still can't trigger my SH-101 sequencer from outputs 3/4!
I've tried loads of samples and pulses and even with a distortion pedal boosting the signal it doesn't work. It sort of works from the main outputs or headphones jack with the tubes turned up a bit, but not very well as it misses loads of steps or double triggers certain notes.
The 101 needs a +5V pulse, and I can trigger it from my Boss DR110 and SP-404 without any problems, but I really need to be able to do this from the ESX outputs 3/4 as these are my only spare outputs!
What else can I do to make the signal hot enough for this to work?

I only have experience doing something similar with a monotribe (congrats on owning an SH-101 BTW!) but I can offer some general tips:
-To get a louder signal, try using a combination of the distortion effect, max part level and maybe use the +12dB sample playback option within the Normalizer on the sample you're using (will change the sample's playback level gloabally, so be warned) Do anything else you can to beef up the signal from the Electribe. I honestly don't know if this would make any improvement, but you said cranking tube gain does, so it may.
-Generally, these things require a "click" track, so do everything you can to make it more of a click than a standard drum hit. I've had success using the ramp EG shape and setting the EG Time really quick (~15 on the dial). with a rim hit sample. You could even set the resonence of the filter really high and adjust the cutoff to colour the tone. This could be what's holding you back, so try to make it as much of a "click" sound as possible.
