Load bank to different location, without breaking combis?

I have a feeling this must be obvious but I'm just missing how to do it!

I have a bank of patches, which I want to move from its current location to one of the new 1.5 extended banks. Ok, I know how to do that.

But I also have a bank of combis which use these patches. Is there any way to automatically fix up all the combis to reference the new patch locations, or must I manually go through and edit each one in turn?

Thanks!

See the sticky thread on PCG tools. This program can do what you want. If you move them in the Kronos itself, you'll have to edit the combis as you suspect.

Yes, PCG tools will work if your on a PC system. If your on a Mac or need to do it yourself check out this link on how it's done…..

Just want to say thanks for your effort to write the Short 'how to' tutorials. I've used your sample tutorial yesterday and it saved me a lot of time comparing to reading the manual on that topic.

I really appreciate it, merry christmas!

For PCG Tools you also can use a Windows emulator on Mac (although I understand as Mac user you don't consider such idea as ideally).

Drchris, thanks for mentioning my app :-)

I've been fiddling myself on a webbased solution for editing PCG files... until I found out how big those files usually are

The complete OS1.5 Kronos PCG file is about 40MB ... the old one was about 34MB. If you want to use a webbased solution, however they can be zipped very efficiently.

I'm not sure I can afford the bandwidth if I let people upload/download those files freely ...

Interesting, How far did you get with your development of this? And in which language did you write this?

Not very far :-)

I started a solution in Visual Studio using the ASP.NET MVC 3 framework. I'm used programming in C#, but I have some VB experience as well.

The idea is simple, really ...
- No logins, Facebook connect, ... just upload a PCG file to start editing
- Edit the file using a fancy Kronos-setlist-looking interface, using drag 'n drop and some fancy jQuery UI stuff
- When you're done, click download for getting a modified file, session closed

Thanks Kid for the article, I've printed it and put into my custom made manual

PS. Mr. michelkeijzers has posted listings in the forum that would help you sort out your request manually. You'll have too search them out.

I believe there is one that list combi's with their associated programs.

good luck

now for the $64000 question, why would you want to move programs. I'd recommend using the setlist mode for most organizational needs. What your attempting is risky so, keep good notes and back everything up prior to starting.

With PCG Tools it is possible to create a list of ANY PCG, not only the default one.

I'm thinking of rearranging all my programs and combis, e.g. alphabetical or by type.

What one also like is to move all the programs and combis used by e.g. 3 set lists to a different PCG. So that PCG only contains programs/combis that are really used in those set lists. After that, one can copy other programs/combis.
