Free Orchestral Expansion.

Post by Sharp »

Hi everyone.
I’m working on an orchestral sample library for the OASYS that contains a complete orchestra.

Anyone interested in testing it before it’s officially released to everyone?

Regards

Of course. Just repaired my OASYS, ready to go :-)

Thanks guys…. I’m uploading right now. I will send you a PM with a link.

Just so you know the current status……
Sampling and looping is complete, but your download will not contain all the samples yet. I still have some more to map to multisamples before including them in the library.

The PCG file will contain upward of 50 sounds, each pointing to a different set of multisamples.

None of the PCG sounds are named correctly. So you will see Category Titles as the name for the moment. The actual filter mapping is complete for the sounds included.

No KARMA assigned.

None of the percussion multisamples included are mapped to Programs yet. So if you want to check those out you will have to edit a Prog or go to sampling mode.

Mutilsamples need to be renamed to friendly names.

Hi Sharp - downloaded and loaded, if you get my drift :)

What particular feedback are you wanting?

As far as loading was concerned, it went perfectly. I have 2Gb RAM with only EXs1 loaded on startup. All your progs worked.

Am going to work with the sounds in a musical context and then provide more feedback after that - on first listen, there are some very good authentic sounds in there - some brass and strings particularly so.

Let us know if there's anything specific you want us to comment on.

Initial reaction - very, very good :)

I agree with Cello. There are some nice brass sounds. Tubas are hard to come by and these sound pretty good. The strings are decent, particularly the pizzicatto and violins. The choir is "airy" and cool. Probably the strongest suite comes from the woodwinds - nice oboe, clarinet, flute, piccolo, etc.

I had to go to Sample mode to listen to the percussion. lot of it has reverb recorded with it, but there is a nice variety. One thing I noticed is that the single snare hits lacked a bit of attack.

All in all, I think this is a nice compliment to what's in the OASYS. I could definitely make a song with just these samples.

The download itself was smooth.

Hi Sharp -

I'd be keen to test this too if you're still in need of testers.

Cheers,
Kevin.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

In general the kind of things I'm looking for are....

Any kind of general feedback.
Quality, usability, did you see any problems. Would you prefer that all the notes on the keyboard worked, or only the ones the actual instrument covers. PCG Programming, any comments, issues, or MFX/IFX concerns.

Generally, anything you feel needs saying.

Thanks,
Sharp.

My vote would be for the instruments to be locked to their natural range - keeps it real - if it was good enough for Beethoven, Mozart and Rachmaninov, it should be good for us! lol

Am still playing around with the sounds and am enjoying them very much so far. Am putting together a list of comments to post here later.

Are you an OASYS user? I thought you were a KRONOS user.
This download is for OASYS users only at this moment in time.

Sharp.
