Yes, those contacts are the same I have. As I recall, there's no much to disassemble in order to get access to them.

Begin following those instructions: Korg Kronos RAM Installation Procedure

On one of the first photos, you see brown circuit boards just above the keybed. You only have to remove those circuit boards and the rubber contacts are immediately below.

Just need to exchange those. AFAIK, the rubber contacts are all the same. You can check if the contacts you're about to buy are the correct ones when you compare those with the pink rubber contacts on the Kronos: both are the same size, the pink are stiffer.
So the PA50 (blue) contacts that are $1.50 less per strip are better than the ones listed for the Kronos? These are fully compatible then?

I have a Kronos 88 bought 2nd hand. Will have to address this myself. Ive swapped contacts before on the fatar circuit board strips. Im assuming its the same here. I have all pink contact strips. RH3 made in japan sticker, and black satin textured keys, (not shiny). Main issue i have is keybed alignment. Need to adjust it . Not sure about note cuttoffs yet. Will have to try to make it happen.

I have brought my K73 to a Korg dealer to fix this once. The problem has ceased but not entirely gone.

Since I have to fly to another country to get this job done so I prefer doing this myself.
Given that I have the new rubber contact installed already, just incorrectly applied, anyone has any idea about how to do it ?

Thanks guys.

As long as your unit has pink rubber contacts, you´ll end up experiencing at least the cut off issue.

Look what contacts your unit has, you can do that lookig at the space between keys. They may be blue.

If you´ve got the blue contacts already and you still experience any issue ( it can happen, we´ve seen some cases), exchange your unit directly; its the only way to proceed.

So, since having the service center do the ram upgrade, I've got a clacky, sticky key.

I have no doubt they will make it right. I spoke to them at the time of service, they said Korg had been very accommodating to replacing the beds...but, I have a question:

What makes the Kronos RH3 feel so different from the SV1 RH3? I say that because I really like the feel of every SV1 more. It's a little tighter feeling. Maybe "fights back" a little more. I'm just wondering, if they're going to order a new keybed from Korg for warrantee replacement, anyone know if they can just pop an SV1 keybed in instead?

My Kronos is repaired as of today! Hurray!

:D :D :D :D

SN# 2100002342

It works perfectly now it seems. Could not produce any drop outs.
Sounds round and smooth.
(The sound quality of the DA/AD converters is even better then the M3.)

I got the blue contacts and the RAM I sent with the Kronos was installed without further cost. (thx for that Korg)

I called Justmusic at 18.10 and sent it to them 20.10.2012
They sent it to Korg at the 25.10 and Korg Germany got it the 31.10
Korg sent it back to Justmusic around the 05.11 (Remember, remember the fifth of November?) and it arrived at my place the 13.11

Quite a journey. Approx. 3 weeks. :(

It would be much better if a customer could send it directly to Korgs repairshop after getting a repair number (forgot how it´s called RDN#?)

I still wonder how they could have missed that problem during QC.
But s**t happens. (Maybe Jordan Rudess plays to fast to notice this? ;) )

Congrats Saxifraga.

I´m still unable to get a properly working Kronos, after four unit exchages and six months since its purchase; and this forum shows I´m not the only one in this situation.

So the velocity 1 problem you had with light playing has gone?

Yes! It´s definitely gone.
No more 1s. Only the release velocity goes down to 1 sometimes if I play very soft. Note on velocity is now from around 5 to 110 if you play normal rock style. I can reach 127 if I play VERY hard.
There are no zeros or ones coming.

If they now update the sequencer to M3 standards 8) I will be very happy with this great machine.

The German Grand now sounds even better then the Steinway my daughters piano tutor uses. (I use to think so, but better is a very stretchable word)

Mines being picked up on Thursday, for some reason its got to go via the dealers rather than directly to Korg.

They are going to look at the noisy fan and the keyboard issues and I am going to purchase the ram and HD upgrade as well.

Fingers crossed it all goes well....
