how to setup the kronos to pattern record like the motif?
I REALLY like the pattern record feature on the motif sequencer and I'm wondering how you would setup to loop record like what the motif does.
I figured I'd start with a combi in sequencer mode and setting it up to loop all tracks at 4 bars then with it set to multi record I could use the control surface to turn the tracks on and off and just keep the sequencer recording while I record different tracks while it's looping BUT when I set it to loop all tracks it grey's out the multi track record option....... Any ideas..........

use the rppr function.

I do, a lot, and I love it especially with the new OS and the nano pads, but that's not what I'm after, the way the motif can loop record is totally slick and seamless, being able to keep the sequencer recording and looping while you record on any track you want and mixing in real time from the control panel. I'm thinking with a little tweeking the kronos could be setup to do something similar..............apex wrote:use the rppr function.

not sure if you can keep the kronos going like that....while in seq. mode. i think you have to keep stopping it to change the track.

The Kronos doesn't have a pattern sequencer. The closest you can get to doing something like this (without an external piece of gear like an MPC) is to use RPPR.soundsailer wrote:but it would be so do'able using the controllers, must be a way...............apex wrote:not sure if you can keep the kronos going like that....while in seq. mode. i think you have to keep stopping it to change the track.
That's really the only answer.

That's one of the missing features that's keeping me from purchasing KRONOS... ability to loop record and change tracks without stopping the sequencer. I use Fantom-G, which is even more powerful than the Motif for pattern recording.
Roland Fantom-G6 ARX1, Korg M3-m exb-Radias, Korg Z1-18v, Roland MC-808, Roland MC-909, Korg microKontrol.
hi, you can in song mode select loop mode and after in track parameter for each track you can select the number of the loop measure (ex: bass 1-4 , keyb 1-8 ect..) after you can use an empty track (16? or another and record in live the track mute of all tracks into single track 16, the kronos become a groove box.
KORG KRONOS 61
Shakil... you made me think of my Fantom G.... I miss it so much. I sold it when I purchased the Motif XF. One of the main reasons I got my Motif was because of pattern mode... I didn't even really even consider the fact that I could already do it on the Fantom... I was sick when I put two and two together. But at the same time... there were some things that weren't the best about the Fantom G.... (projects and sharing data)... so for that reason I am still happy.
the fact that the expansion cards had their own polyphony was CRAZY!!!!!
I'll scoop up a Fantom G6 the first time I see one under $900 or so.

I do wonder this though... why is so much emphasis placed on being able to record and switch patches without stopping the sequencer for a split second the switch tracks? it doesn't take that long....

apex....
Stoping a beat while recording is like killing a beat right there....
With workstations that make me stop the sequencer when you have to record on a different track on a pattern... I loose the interest in that beat on the first stop.....
Fantom-G's sequencer is very powerful.... not only it allows you to record multiple channels on a track, it allows you to change the parts, sounds, EDIT Sounds, even the drums... which are VERY important for me to get that unique sound on each beat... rather than sounding the same... I can get into drum editing and layer a sample on a snare WHILE the sequencer is recording / rehearsal mode, and tweak ANYTHING.... AND have the recorded if I want... that's the real power of Fantom-G.
The workaround for project management is to create one project for one project..... As long as you keep in mind the stupid limits (50 songs, 2000 samples, 2000 phrases) per project.... you can deal with it.
Motif allows changing tracks only withing pattern mode, and it doesn't allow getting into detailed program editing while you are recording the beat... which defeats the purpose.

yeah, but if you have sounds, samples, etc... it can be a pain transfering all the... don't get me wrong, I love my Fantom G... and somedays regret selling it... buy all in all, I'm very satisfied with what I have... but there were just some thing unique to the fantom g that I will miss.Shakil wrote:apex....
