Cable decisions.. Any words of wisdom?

Post by JBird »

Hey everybody, I was just wondering what your takes are on dual instrument and midi cables.. I can save money by getting dual cables but what is the significance of these things, less tangle to worry about? Any sound/sound transfer differences? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks!!

Assuming you mean paired leads for example for stereo audio... there isn't much difference - it's easier to manage and less hassle keeping them untangled.
There may be slightly more crosstalk. But I've never noticed a problem.

I mainly use my leads for each synth loomed up in a cable management system. That includes putting MIDI and Audio right next to eachother for long distances which isn't a great idea as you sometimes get interference on the audio channels. But I've only had that with really cheap audio cables. Most of them aren't a problem

I have used audio cables like these before and I've never noticed any interference, even on some of the more cheaper ones.

I woudl normally recommend Monster Cables, but in all honesty I use the cheapest 1/4-RCA and RCA-RCA cables you get at Guitar Center mainly because I run my MK through a miniKP.
Cheers! Yoa
