KO-PRO and KP3 USB issues

Post by Skelten »

Hey I've found similar topics to this problem but nothing ever seemed to get fully fixed in them so I need to make this topic to ask it all over again. I have a Kaossilator Pro and a KP3 hooked up to my computer via USB, the initial attempt to install the driver automatically fails from not being able to find the correct files so I have to install the drivers manually. I've downloaded the Korg USB-Midi drivers and extracted and installed the program, which appears to have installed correctly however when I go to the ezsetup64.exe (or the 32-bit version) all I get is the error "Device is not found." This is only part of the problem really though.

Continuing on the path of installing the drivers manually I'm able to find both the KP3 and KO-PRO on my Device Manager, and go ahead and install the drivers manually and get the error "This Device Cannot Start. (Code 10)." This happens with any of the drivers I have tried and have tried many clean installs and everything, same error every time.

None of this makes sense to me, when I open the Korg USB-Midi Driver Utility it lists my KO-PRO and KP3 drivers as "Corrupted" but shows them both connected there. There is nothing I can do to install this driver without it being "Corrupted" and multiple attempts of downloading the driver installation package again has been totally fruitless.

I am utterly confused by all of this, has anybody had a situation similar or have any ideas on where my problem lies? I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit on a Pentium Core 2 Duo based system, with all current updates installed. Any information anybody has to help me along the right path and to prevent me ripping my hair out would be great and I'd be much appreciative, thank you.

firstly is sys.ex turned ON in midi setting on the pads?

do you have the korg midi-utility installed? if so run the "uninstall korg devices" to check which of the 20 midi-driver slots the KP3 and KOPRO are getting installed in.. I've had issues with korg midi drivers (and other midi drivers) that have ended up in the 10th or greater slot... windows 7 and XP are cleverly programmed to have 20 midi-driver slots but only the first 10 actually seem to work! -facepalm!-

other than this.. i dunno.. i hate software and have been plagued by driver issues recently (but i have managed to get my KP3, KPRO and nanokontrol all working with my pc after cleaning the drivers completely.. freeing up midi driver slots and installing them somewhere in slots 0-9)

Sys.ex is turned on on both controllers yes.

Korg Midi Uninstall program shows my KP3 and KO-Pro listed as Midi Devices 3 and 4 respectively but strangely lists their drivers as "Corrupted" after doing the manual install on the drivers.

I've since started the process of contacting Korg techincal support on this issue to which I had to submit my system information log, the more and more I look into this the more and more it seems as if it's a specific to my laptop error, I'm starting to wonder if possibly my Maschine, Mpk49, or Traktor Kontrol S4 are getting in the way somehow because a clean install on a different computer worked out just fine.

Thanks for the help though, I appreciate the effort.

I've got the opposite problem.. all my Korg gear drivers work fine and all the hardware works with the editors etc.... but my S4 DOESNT WORK! I uninstalled its drivers to get my Kaossilator pro and nanokontrol working... now it keeps getting installed in the 11th slot, which bugs the hell out of me cos no matter what I do even if there are free slots it still installs it there. The Audio drivers work perfectly... but what use is a controller if the midi drivers arent working? frustrates me to the point where i'm considering formatting my laptop completely cos windows cant seem to forget the drivers despite me uninstalling/deleting/removing in every conceivable way... time to start digging in the registry =/

I installed the drivers for my KP3 again yesterday:

0. install the Korg drivers for 32/64bit windows: (PC:Driver:KORG_USB_MIDI_Driver_1.13_r6_PC.zip) (i didnt do this cos the drivers are already on my system) but run the drivers without anything plugged in.

1. plugged in power and USB cable to KP3
2. plugged into pc -turn on KP3-
3. windows automatically installs generic drivers (probably recognises it as a USB- mass storage device cos of the SD card)
4. run Korg's "install Korg device" (cant recall exact name of executable)
-done-
5. begin mapping in traktor =P

cant remember if its that simple for the first time install because i've had the KP3 running on my pc in the past.

i know you've probably done this already: but if its saying the drivers are corrupted then download them and try again

I'm totally stumped on this... not a clue in the world, I've tried everything and have become frustrated and given up on using my Korg gear via USB... I've even called tech support and had "my problem forwarded to the engineers." I hope they figure out something, it's been over a week though so I have my doubts.
