nanoKey and nanoKontrol driver assistance

Hello all, I need some accumulated assistence and wisdom.
I recently downloaded drivers for the nanoKontrol and nanoKey to my computer. I've been building synths using MAX 5.1 and the nanoKey was responding fine, ...until it stopped. I searched through the windows on the control panel and found a statement in the hardware window gave a statement that the "drivers were enabled but not working gproperly"
the weird thing is... I left the machine on for an hour and came back to it and it suddenly ran fine, I then wroked with it for 20 minutes, then shut off the computer and it hasn't worked since.
I am using a Dell inspiron E1705 dual core. If anyone can suggest any course of action to get the drivers to work properly I would be most grateful.
I recently applied some bangs to each level of the synth and I found I am getting a midi signal in, however, when the information flow switches to DSP and audio signals out I get no bangs...the mystery deepens.
Thank you for your consideration.
