touchscreen blank

Post by robinsel »

Hi - someone unplugged my keyboard before I had turned it off. When I went to start it up again, the LCD screen is blank. I cannot access anything or change anything. I can't re-install o/s or resources as I need to read instructions from the screen. I think this is something like turning off a computer before it has closed down. Is there any way I can re-boot?

Yeah - Tried this before anything else ! There is some life in the screen as there is a sort of backlight, with a bright orange line across the bottom of the screen. I just can't believe that someone pulling the plug before the instrument was properly turned off could do so much damage. As yet, no-one from the authorised repairers here in Australia can advise whether it is a new touchscreen ( which would cost more than the keyboard is worth) or just a chip inside the touchscreen module itself. Thanks for your reply. If anyone else out there has ever had a similar problem with any of the Pa series keyboards, I would love to hear from you !

Blank touchscreen

Post by robinsel »

Just wanted to let everyone know that the problem with my touchscreen was terminal ! The touchscreen was only 11 months old as it had been replaced after it got damaged. The cost here in Oz was $849 + fitting, so that brought it up to $1200. In the UK (where I am from) a new touchscreen can be obtained for 119 pounds ! What a difference in price. However, I wrote to Korg in Italy, who forwarded my letter to Japan. I had complained about the cost of the new screen, plus the fact it had only lasted 11 months and I felt it should have carried a 12 month warranty. The upshot was that Japan sent a new screen free of charge and covered the cost of the fitting. I am very grateful to them and just wanted to pass on their courteous behaviour. Not many manufacturers would have been so gracious. Go Korg !!! And Thanks !

That's good to hear of Korg's outstanding service, and glad to hear you got sorted. Over the past eleven years I've had an i30 and a Pa1XPro - no screen problems so far, touch wood.
When I nod my head . . . Hit it!
