Have you ever used your R3 linked with Kronos88 ?

What do you mean by linked, and for what purpose? There is not much point to hooking the R3 directly to any workstation except for recording, and most of us record with DAW software these days, not workstations.

You can combine the sounds of all your synths using a mixer, if that is what you mean by linked.

In terms of synth-with-workstation, I've always used a workstation as master keyboard.

First I was using a microKorg with a TR workstation.
Then Radias with the TR and later Karma. (plus Access Virus B Rack)
Now I'm just using the Kronos.

I think the R3 and indeed Radias as I currently have is obsolete with the Kronos. Except for the 'fun' of having more than one synth and sometimes convenience of having an extra keyboard live.. The Kronos can do all the sounds you need and it's sound character is quite similar to the MMT in R3 etc.

What you can do:
Use it as an extra MIDI keyboard for lead parts
OR
Set up live performances as combis in the workstation. Set those combis to automatically send patch changes to select the right sound on the R3 or other synth.
