Problems working with midi created from Pa500 into Cubase

Post by Jimmy3 »

Hi

I have the following set up - Cubase AI 4, I connect my Korg PA500 using USB cable to the computer, already installed the Korgpa drivers and have been able to get the Cubase identify the tracks in Cubase. Now here's my problem:

Problem 1: I am trying to create a song by first creating a style, save it in user bank. Now I go to the sequencer and select Backing Sequence (Quick Record). I record the song while I play, and save it in my sd card as abc.midi file.

Then I import the midi in Cubase ( I created a 16 track midi project). Each of the track I assign to the corresponding channel from 1 to 16. This is to edit the already recorded tracks. When I open it, I see the tracks. But when I try to play .. all of them are distorted like drums became guitar and so. I tried to assign the correct tone from the bank (btw I have also imported the korg Pa500 definition file into Cubase). But as I try to play the sound automatically changes!!

Problem 2: I tried to create the tracks afresh in Cubase, but in a sequencer mode Backing sequence record mode I could hear the beats if I play my style, but no signals to Cubase. Is it normal?

Problem 3: If I dont go to the sequencer mode.. and select style mode, then I cant hear sound either in Cubase. So does it mean .. to record any existing style (or pure sound hits) I have to go to the sequencer mode? Whats with those instruments then which doesnt have a sequencer? (Excuse this question.. as I am quite new to cubase).

PS: I also found another post where a similar problem is discussed. No resolution seen as such. Anyone, help??

anyone has any suggestions? I am in same boat at the moment with PA500 and a macbook air.
in windows, I was able to play a style and record directly in sonar as midi. and also play it back on pa500. How do I do that with a mac?
I have cubase AI and also garageband.
any suggestions for any of these 2 softwares to achieve the simple midi recording and play it back?
I don't know anything about music. In my line you don't have to -- Elvis Presley.
