Kronos sound dropout

Post by TARKUS1 »

My band just finished a July 4th show as a bit of an opener for the fireworks and during an insignificant keyboard tune (Limelight by Rush), the sound just dropped out. It wasn't the obvious as in the volume being down as this is actually the second time it's happened lately. Fortunately changing to another sound in my set list and back again fixed this bug. Is anyone else aware of any such issues? This time wasn't a real issue but the first time it happened was just before one of my scarce keyboard solos, which needless to say, did cause me to...well, you get the picture.

I doubt that would be it as it was not touched in either of the instances. Although I will keep an open mind to anything and will check.

Using any sequences / midi controllers etc?

Perhaps some change was sent by a sequence / midi device?

A midi overlap or conflict?

Someone step on a volume pedal etc?

It's funny that it gets mentioned about someone stepping on a volume pedal b/c I've actually done that to myself years ago and blamed it on my bass player. Of course the video showing me doing it kind of put me in my place. I can assure you that was not the case this time.
As for the other suggestions, there's nothing else that could have done it. No midi, outside source controls, etc. My rig is about as simple as it gets. I use a Roland juno Stage for most piano and organ and k61 for everything else. With the inclusion of the set list on the Kronos i haven't had the need for really much else.

If the vector joystick gets shifted even minutely due to jostling (or playing) the keyboard, it can cause an effect like this. Even if you think you didn't touch. I usually program it to be off in my patches, for that reason.

Leave the master slider up.
I've either bumped it when it was down or hit hard enough
To make it jump to its current setting.

Related to this, in global mode, change your knob and slider settings to Catch instead of Jump. That way, if you accidentally touch a slider with an extreme value, it doesn't affect the sound until you match the parameter value associated with that slider. Thus no sudden and extreme volume changes for example.

Great ideas which I'll surely do.
Unfortunately I won't be able to for another couple days. The next time I have it used will be during another show this Saturdray night. I should be able to change some settings and check the vector stick at that time.

Cool!!
I'll do that tonight.
I wish it wasn't global though.

Had a show last night and was finallay able to actually check the issue and wether or not it had anyting to do with the vector stick. I had serious doubt that was the issue as things are usually not that simple in my life. Anyway, I checked the patches that dropped out and it is very possible and probably most likely that the stick was to blame. I can breathe a little sigh of relief now.
thanks

Glad to hear it! Easy to program out now. Also heard some people like to make sure the stick is simply all the way to the left in the "corner" - makes it less likely to jump inadvertedly.
