With the release of OS 2.0 many of us want to take the Kronos to the extreme and aren't afraid to get our hands dirty. This means some user installs.
We know the Kronos is capped at 3GB of RAM and is unlikely to change. Question is if whether there is any harm in putting in a 4GB (The largest the hardware will allow) set just in case? That way if even the last 250mb comes available again, you don't have to open the Kronos! Just a thought since the price difference is negligible IMO.
With that out of the way...
I wonder if we can get a list of working SSDs and the compatibility parameters? I've read that SATAIII is bc with SATAII so one should just get the newer drive in most cases, understanding they won't see SATAIII speeds. However I have read that you're more likely to saturate the SATAII interface with a SATAIII drive maximizing the throughput.
So I guess some questions to start are:
SATAIII OK?
Max Size?
Preferred/bad controllers/chipsets? or does it not matter at all?
Can we just go with what's listed as compatible for the motherboard according to Intel?
Then perhaps a list of users and their working drives (I think this already exists in another thread though)
Basically, what I'm hoping to achieve with this is to Max out the Kronos and only have to do it ONCE, with at most the possibility of cloning/replacing the stock drive with a larger one in the future.

I replaced the factory RAM with 2 Corsair xtreme 2GB DDR2 stick, total physical RAM=4GB. They came with an heatsink installed from factory, I suppose this contribute a bit to their great stability. Now I've been using my Kronos for 7 months without a single issue.
I also replaced the internal fan with the one suggested in this great forum: it's so silent compared to the original one!
I'm planning to put a second 512GB SSD, I'm looking for a Samsung 830, it's an overshoot for it's 6G interface but... who cares, I want my Kronos to be really EXTREME!!!
This keyboard is a beauty, I start to be a Kronos-fetishist
Cheers,
Alex

Yeah I'm considering the Samsung 830 or Vertex 4. Around 256 GB, SATA 3, and both around $2-250 USD. Not sure which way to go. Leaning towards the Vertex. Reviews are good, and their stated reliability seems top of the pack. Of course assuming I can trust those numbers!alex_none wrote:I replaced the factory RAM with 2 Corsair xtreme 2GB DDR2 stick, total physical RAM=4GB.
