ram problem PA1X

Hi all,
new here and already have a question.
Bought myself a beautifull PA1X; but...
To check the memory thats onboard I already know that I have to go in Sound mode and press the record button.
However; whe I do this the screen says "wait please". Nothing happens anymore and the only thing I can do is switch of the keyboard.
Anyone ever seen this problem?
(I already tried another simm - 16Mb EDO 5V 60ns, still same problem)
