External Sequencer with Korg Electribe - Can still record mo

Post by ajs »

On a Korg Electribe EMX, if you control the notes themselves for all the parts from an external multi-channel MIDI sequencer, is it still possible to record motion sequences directly on the EMX itself, so that the source of the note messages and controller messages are the two different devices?

If anyone has an Electribe, I'd like to know. Basically, it means you have a bunch of motion sequences recorded on the EMX, but the EMX doesn't have the note on/off messages stored as part of the pattern, thus by itself the motion sequences would be doing nothing, as there is no sound or notes. But the external sequencer triggers these notes, so the motion sequences are then tweaking the sequenced notes in real time.

I can confirm this works.

The motion sequences are stored separately from the notes, and act out whether there are any notes present on the EMX or not. this means you can run the notes from an external sequencer and the motion sequences from the internal sequencer :)
